Hiring Range: $22.67 - $27.78 Per Hour

Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is hiring a Behavioral Health Technician Shift Supervisor to support operations within our Crisis Triage Center (CTC), a fast-paced, 24/7 stabilization environment serving adults experiencing behavioral health crises. In this role, you’ll provide hands-on leadership to Behavioral Health Technicians, ensure safe and therapeutic milieu operations, and collaborate closely with clinical and operational partners to maintain high-quality client care. Primary Responsibilities:

• Supervise Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) in their daily work, including training, coaching, and evaluating performance.
• Ensure trauma-informed communication and professionalism during client and staff interactions.
• Review documentation for accuracy and timeliness in the Electronic Health Record.
• Provide individual and group supervision to BHTs, documenting performance discussions and plans.
• Support ongoing training and skill development for BHTs in collaboration with the Operations Supervisor.
• Participate in interviewing and selection processes for BHT hires.
• Conduct regular chart audits to ensure compliance with WAC and agency standards.
• Promote positive staff morale by responding promptly to concerns, facilitating team cohesion, and encouraging recognition.
• Assess milieu acuity and collaborate with leadership to ensure proper staffing levels and effective de-escalation as needed.
• Lead shift pass-downs, communicating updates on safety, workflow, and client needs.
• Model evidence-based behavioral interventions, trauma-informed care practices, and strong professional boundaries.
• Provide oversight of Medication Observation duties specific to the CTC, including proper documentation.
• Assist in unit safety planning and collaborate with clinical staff to support a safe, therapeutic environment.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED

EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience or equivalent education in similar field)

LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration

 

Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health field or equivalent experience in Behavioral Health.

EXPERIENCE: Specialist (minimum 5 years of job-related experience)

Inpatient/residential work experience, supervisory experience, and teaching ability.

Relevant experience working with clients with severe and persistent mental illness.

 

Performance Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE:

  1. Maintain a working knowledge and skill in verbal de-escalation skills as outlined in Pro-ACT/CPI trainings and other agency-mandated trainings.
  2. Maintain knowledge of unit policies and procedures and work collaboratively with departmental Leadership.

 

SKILLS:

  1. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, clients, organizations, and the public.
  2. Must possess good verbal and written communication skills
  3. Proficiency in MS applications preferred.

 

ABILITIES:

  1. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as a team member

WORKSITE #1: Crisis Triage Center (CTC)

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES: Monitor performance and process oversight of BHTs conducting Medication Observation, including appropriate documentation in the paper record and controlled substances log.

When required conduct Medication Observation.

 

 

Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.

 

Work Environment: Residential treatment facility.

 

Mental/Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to maintain audio and visual observation at all times.
  • Ability to stand and be mobile for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, twist, reach, hold and lift as needed to successfully evade and/or participate in protective holds against client weight (40 -250lbs).
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to remain calm and utilize safety training in potentially assaultive client interactions.
  • Ability to move quickly and confidently to assist or intervene when needed in potentially stressful situations.
  • Successful completion of safety training, which includes demonstration of ability to:  maintain balance, torso twist, forward bend, pivot, sidestep, forward and backward step, crouch, move to secure limb, knee touch to ground, kneel, get up from floor sitting or kneeling position.
